It is the work that decides whether a renovation looks built-in or looks added on.
Wood moves with humidity, and it moves across the grain roughly ten to twenty times more than it moves along it. That single fact explains most of what separates trim that stays tight from trim that opens up at the joints a year later.

The industry defines six levels of drywall finish, Level 0 through Level 5. Level 4 is the normal standard under flat paint; Level 5 — a skim coat over the entire surface — is what's recommended where gloss or semi-gloss paint, or strong side lighting, will otherwise show every seam.
